Half-wave, full-wave, bridge rectifier
A rectifier turns AC, which changes direction, into DC, which flows one way.
A bridge rectifier uses four diodes so both halves of the AC wave are used. A capacitor after it smooths the bumps (ripple).
Every phone charger has one inside.
